Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Midwife Clinical Coach for our Maternity team at Southland Hospital. The role focuses on creating a learning environment that supports midwifery clinical skills and knowledge, including new graduates, RTP participants, and returning staff.

You will provide practical, evidence-informed, culturally safe education in the workplace and collaborate with education providers to strengthen the new graduate programme.

Qualifications

• Registered Midwife with current Annual Practising Certificate.
• NZCOM preceptor or mentor training is required.
• Postgraduate education in complex care or equivalent.
• Strong group facilitation and collaborative team approach.
• Ability to build relationships in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Commitment to te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori.

Responsibilities

• Provide robust orientation for new staff and students.
• Offer one-to-one practical support and coaching in clinical settings.
• Collaborate with education providers to develop graduate programmes.
• Support staff to transition to confident practitioners.
