Job summary

The Southland Hospital Maternity team is seeking a Midwife Clinical Coach in Invercargill. This permanent part-time role (16 hours per week) focuses on delivering practical clinical education, orientation for new staff, and supporting midwifery development within a learning-focused environment.

You will collaborate with new graduates, international midwives, and staff on RTP/PIP programmes, while building links with tertiary education providers to support a robust graduate programme.

Qualifications

• It is essential that you are a Registered Midwife and hold a current annual practicing certificate
• NZCOM preceptor or mentor training course
• Completed or participating in postgraduate education (e.g. complex care course)
• A collaborative team approach with excellent group facilitation skills
• Proven ability building successful working relationships with those around you, the ability to work independently or within a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Confidence with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth

Responsibilities

• Promote a learning environment within the clinical setting and support development of midwifery clinical skills and knowledge
• Provide practical clinical education in the workplace
• Deliver robust orientation for new staff and support transitions to practice
• Collaborate with tertiary education providers to develop relationships with new graduate midwives
• Assist in developing the midwifery new graduate programme and participate in related initiatives
