Qualifications

• NZ Registered Midwife with Annual Practising Certificate.
• 5+ years recent clinical experience in NZ.
• Minimum 2+ years inpatient clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Coaching: Provide one-on-one and group coaching to midwives to enhance their clinical skills and confidence in practice.
• Mentorship: Role model clinical excellence and culturally safe practice while supporting midwives in achieving their learning goals.
• Education & Orientation: Assist with the orientation and clinical support of new staff and midwives entering the maternity service.
• Program Development: Contribute to development and enhancement of the midwifery new graduate programme.
• Collaboration with Education Providers: Work with tertiary institutions to build relationships and facilitate transitions from education to practice.
• Cultural Support: Identify Māori and Pacific midwives who may benefit from cultural support and connect them with resources.
• Quality Improvement: Advocate for continuous quality improvement within the maternity service.
• Critical Thinking Development: Encourage midwives to develop critical thinking skills for best care.
