Job summary

Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Visiting Neurodevelopmental Therapist to join a child-centred team. You will work with tamariki aged 0–2 years using a transdisciplinary approach, supporting a range of developmental needs in home and clinic settings.

The role emphasizes early intervention, neurodiversity celebration, and family empowerment, with opportunities for growth and professional development within a supportive MDT environment.

Qualifications

• NZ-registered Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with current practising certificate.
• Strong clinical knowledge in neurological rehabilitation (paediatric preferred).
• Understanding of disability, health and available support services.
• Excellent clinical reasoning, reflective practice and problem solving.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Full, clean NZ driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide neurodevelopmental assessments and tailored interventions within the home and clinic setting.
• Support children with diverse developmental needs.
• Orthotics and equipment prescription.
• Empower families with practical strategies and compassionate guidance.
• Collaborate with health professionals and the MDT team.
• Bring creativity, curiosity and heart to every visit.
• Provide group therapy programmes.
