Job summary

Hōhepa Canterbury is seeking an experienced Support Worker for McDougall Service (Wakeover) in Christchurch. You will join a caring team, providing overnight support to five adults aged 40–60 living with intellectual disabilities.

The role focuses on companionship, personal care, and community involvement. Shifts are overnight; you will work Friday and Saturday 11pm–7am, with a total of 32 hours per fortnight.

Qualifications

• Energetic and empathetic, able to support people with disabilities.
• Confident in reading situations and solving problems.
• Able to set boundaries and provide space when needed.
• Willing to assist with personal care, cooking, medication and household tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with personal care
• Offering emotional support and companionship
• Monitoring wellbeing and reporting concerns
• Supporting a person with diabetes
• Performing light household duties such as cleaning and meal preparation
• Assisting with medication management
