Job summary

Waste Management NZ Limited in Henderson, Auckland, is seeking an experienced Heavy Plant Operator to join our team. You will drive and operate earthmoving equipment and company vehicles, assisting with safe waste placement and efficient earthworks.

The role requires a Full Class 2 NZ Licence with WTR endorsement, plus proven experience with excavators, dump trucks and bulldozers. You will work autonomously and with others, maintaining safety and high standards.

Qualifications

• Full Class 2 NZ licence required (Class 3 and 4 considered).
• WTR endorsement required.
• Experience operating earthmoving equipment (excavators, dump trucks, bulldozers).
• Strong health and safety knowledge in the workplace.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate company vehicles and earthmoving equipment.
• Control placement of waste and load materials per requirements.
• Inform drivers/public on proper dumping loads for effective spreading/compacting.
• Maintain buildings, grounds, roadways and landscaping.
• Undertake general labouring duties as required.

About The Role

We have an opportunity for experienced Heavy Plant Operator to join our team based in Henderson, Auckland.

In this role you will be responsible for driving and operating company vehicles and or Earthmoving equipment.

Key responsibilities of the position will include:

• Controlling the placement of waste.
• Excavate, load, transport soil, gravel, and other materials to compact and/or cover waste in accordance with company/contractual requirements and applicable regulations.
• Informing and assisting drivers and/or members of the public of proper placement for dumping loads to ensure most effective spreading or compacting of waste or other materials.
• Maintain all buildings, grounds, roadways, and landscaping in a clean and tidy condition
• Undertake general labouring duties as required

Qualifications

About You:

• Full Class 2 NZ Licence is a must, but open to Class 3 and 4 Licence's.
• WTR endorsement is a must
• Relevant experience in operating earthmoving equipment, such as, but not limited to compactors, excavators, dump trucks and bulldozers
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace
• Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team

A good level of fitness is required to carry out the duties of the role
