Job summary

Waste Management in Auckland's East Tamaki Transfer Station is hiring a permanent, rostered Operator to join our onsite team. You'll be the face of our operation, ensuring safety, guiding customers, and operating key machinery.

No two days are the same as you manage site safety, traffic flow, and basic plant operations, with opportunities for career growth in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Clean NZ Full Class 1 driver's licence is a must.
• Wheels (W) and Tracks (T) endorsements are a nice to have.
• Strong focus on safety awareness for yourself, your team, and the public.
• The ability to work autonomously when needed, but with a team-first mentality.
• Bonus: experience in the waste industry or production line work is a plus, but not essential if you have the right attitude!

Responsibilities

• Site Management: ensuring the site, buildings, and roadways are safe, neat, and professional.
• Customer & Traffic Control: directing vehicles and assisting customers with their drop-offs.
• Operations & Labouring: operating onsite plant and equipment (if qualified/required).
• Environmental Champion: sorting, collecting, and disposing of waste and recyclables efficiently and responsibly.

About the Role

No two days are the same! You'll be the face of our operation, interacting with customers, keeping the site safe, and operating key machinery.

In this varied role, you will be:

• Site Management: Ensuring the site, buildings, and roadways are safe, neat, and professional.
• Customer & Traffic Control: Directing vehicles, assisting customers with their drop-offs, and ensuring everyone understands the correct sorting process.
• Operations & Labouring: Operating onsite plant and equipment (if qualified/required) and being ready to pitch in with general labouring tasks, we all contribute!
• Environmental Champion: Playing a key role in sorting, collecting, and disposing of waste and recyclables efficiently and responsibly.
