Job summary

Goodman Fielder New Zealand is seeking a Packer Operator at the Yoplait site in Palmerston North. The role operates and monitors packaging equipment to deliver high quality yogurt and dairy products in line with the production plan.

The position requires routine equipment checks, achievement of productivity targets and strong cleanliness standards around the plant. Shift pattern is Mon–Fri with rotating hours; the rate is $27.34 per hour plus penalties.

Qualifications

• Experience operating packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• FMCG experience preferred.
• Dairy processing experience desirable.
• Food manufacturing experience beneficial.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Forklift experience highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operate packaging equipment for yogurt and dairy products following SOPs.
• Prepare materials for packaging and coordinate with the Storeman as needed.
• Operate forklift to transport pallets and keep machines charged and ready for use.
• Ensure packers are correctly set up and refilled with cases, labels and glue.
• Check labels, best before dates and packaging quality.
• Prepare fruit bags (including lifting up to 15 kg), write codes, fill fruit sheet and return bags to cool store.

Our OpportunityWe are looking for multiple Packer Operators at our Yoplait site in Palmerston North. The role of the Operator is to operate and monitor the equipment to produce high quality products in accordance with the production plan. The role will be required to complete equipment checks, meet agreed productivity and waste reductions targets and maintain a high standard of cleanliness around the plant.

Key accountabilities of the role include

• Perform routine operation of equipment necessary for the packing of yogurt and dairy product following standard operating procedures (SOP)
• Ensure materials are prepared necessary to undertake packaging and coordinate with the Storeman when needed.
• Ensure smooth operation of forklift to transport pallets and ensure machines are kept charged ready for use, following standard operating procedures (SOP).
• Ensuring packers are correctly setup and refilled regularly with cases, labels & glue.
• Checking for correct labels, best before date and packaging quality.
• To ensure preparation of fruit bags (including lifting: 15kgs), writing of codes, filling up the fruit sheet and ensuring putting back in cool store returned fruit bags.

Shift Pattern:

Monday to Friday rotating shifts. Shift times: Week one: 12am to 8amWeek two: 4pm to 12amWeek three: 8am to 4pm.

Hourly Rate:

$27.34 plus penalties

About You

• Machine Operation experience in a manufacturing environment
• 1+ years' experience working in a FMCG business preferred
• Prior Dairy processing experience desired but not essential
• Food manufacturing experience is beneficial.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Forklift experience is highly desirable
• To work in a safe and responsible manner, reporting any accidents or incidents in accordance with Company Health & Safety
