About the opportunity

The Operations Analyst plays a key role in the safe and efficient operation of New Zealand's capital markets. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to build a career in financial markets.

Working as part of NZX Operations, you will gain exposure to both market operations and post-trade services. Your responsibilities may include processing market announcements, maintaining issuer and instrument data, implementing corporate actions, supporting clearing and settlement activities, managing cash and securities movements, and responding to operational incidents.

You will work closely with listed issuers, share registries, market participants, settlement banks and internal teams across Technology, Regulation and Capital Markets to ensure critical market processes are completed accurately and on time. The role also contributes to testing, documentation, risk management and process improvement initiatives that support the ongoing development of NZX's market infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operation of New Zealand's capital markets.

  • Process market activities including announcements, corporate actions, clearing and settlement.

  • Maintain issuer, instrument, depository and market data accurately.

  • Monitor operational processes and resolve or elevate issues promptly.

  • Work with issuers, registries, market participants, settlement banks and internal stakeholders.

  • Support testing, risk management, audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A genuine interest in financial markets and how they operate.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • The ability to learn new processes, products and systems quickly.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • The ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

  • A proactive approach to work, with a willingness to learn, contribute ideas and drive improvements.

  • Confidence working in a fast-paced operational environment.

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

We are also interested in hearing from candidates who have gained transferable skills through university projects, internships, part-time work, volunteering, extracurricular activities or other experiences that demonstrate teamwork, initiative and problem-solving.

We have two opportunities in the Operations team which are both permanent full-time roles of 40 hours per week, with negotiable start dates.
