Babcock New Zealand is seeking an Operational Defect Coordinator in Auckland to support RNZN's operational readiness within the Maintenance Delivery team. You will coordinate defect rectification, engage contractors, and plan repairs to maximise fleet availability and mission success.

In a fast-paced defence and engineering environment you will manage priorities, ensure compliance and safety, and deliver high-quality outcomes for maintenance operations.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in PM, Engineering, Maintenance, or Technical Operations.
  • Minimum two years' project/maintenance coordination or engineering support experience.
  • Experience in naval, defence, maritime, engineering, or maintenance environments and NZ Defence Security Clearance eligibility.

  • Coordinate defect rectification and repair planning.
  • Engage with contractors and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Ensure work complies with safety and quality standards.

Location: Auckland, NZ, 0624 OnSite Babcock is looking for an Operational Defect Coordinator to join the Maintenance Delivery team based in Devonport, Auckland.

About the role

Join Babcock New Zealand in a pivotal role supporting the Royal New Zealand Navy's operational readiness. As an Operational Defect Coordinator, you'll be at the centre of complex maintenance and engineering activities, coordinating defect rectification, contractor engagement, and repair planning that directly contributes to fleet availability and mission success. This is an opportunity to work alongside defence, engineering, and maintenance professionals in a fast-paced environment where your organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities will make a genuine impact. About you

You are an organised and proactive coordinator who thrives in technically complex environments. You have experience managing multiple priorities, engaging with contractors and stakeholders, and ensuring work is delivered to high quality standards. Ideally, you've worked within defence, maritime, engineering, or maintenance operations and understand the importance of compliance, safety, and documentation. You communicate confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences, enjoy solving problems, and take pride in delivering outcomes that support operational readiness and customer success.
