Job summary

Selwyn District Council is seeking a Council Landscape Development Advisor to support the design and construction of open spaces to meet standards and legislative requirements. The role includes on-site inspections, reviewing landscaping plans, and providing technical guidance to developers and staff.

As part of the team you will help ensure open space assets meet specifications, coordinate with projects, and contribute to safe, functional, and attractive spaces for current and future

Qualifications

• Experience preparing and assessing landscape designs and reports.
• Sound knowledge of landscape design and construction standards, specifications, and industry best practice.
• Excellent relationship management with stakeholders including consultants, developers, customers, contractors and internal teams.
• Experience in landscape design and/or construction, ideally involving public parks, streetscapes and stormwater areas.
• Experience working with resource consent processes.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing landscape designs and reports to ensure compliance with standards.
• Providing technical advice to developers, consultants, and Council staff.
• Assessing open space assets against Council standards and specifications.
• Undertaking site inspections and hold-point inspections throughout construction.
• Monitoring construction quality and asset vesting to Council.
• Supporting safe, functional, sustainable, and attractive open spaces for communities.
