Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Mechanical Design Engineer for an on-site role in Queenstown. You will design and develop mechanical equipment, run stress and tolerance analyses, and produce detailed drawings and BOMs.

You’ll collaborate with production teams to optimize designs for efficiency and cost. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of experience in industrial equipment design, proficiency in SolidWorks or Inventor, and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development, industrial equipment.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor) and simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience designing machinery for heavy industry or manufacturing applications.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and diagnostic skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple design tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Familiarity with relevant safety standards for industrial machinery.
• Must be willing to work full‑time on‑site in Queenstown.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new mechanical equipment and systems using advanced 3D CAD software.
• Perform stress analysis, tolerance analysis, and other engineering calculations to validate designs.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to optimize designs for production efficiency and cost‑effectiveness.
• Oversee the fabrication and assembly of prototypes and production equipment.
• Conduct performance testing and validation, analyzing results to ensure design meets requirements.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues on existing equipment and implement design improvements.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of technical documentation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for product development processes.
