Job summary

Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC) is hiring On Farm Assists for Waitaki region to support farmers with on-farm tasks and dairy herd activities. You will travel to dairy farms across the region, assisting with milking herd test support, DNA sampling, herd audits and weighing animals.

We are seeking people with a positive can-do attitude, excellent customer service, strong time management and attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Must have a current, full drivers' licence (essential).
  • Have the right to work in NZ immediately (essential).
  • Physically fit and able to work in a rural environment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Early morning availability and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to dairy farms to provide on-farm support.
  • Assist with herd test support during milking.
  • Assist with DNA sampling, herd audits and weighing animals.
  • Interact with farmers and field staff to ensure quality service.

The season generally runs from now until April/May the following year.

About the Role:

Our On Farm Assists travel to and from dairy farms throughout the region to provide our farmers with much-needed support on farm.

No two days will be the same - you will assist with a range of different on-farm activities such as Herd Test support during milking, DNA sampling, herd audits and weighing animals - just to name a few.

The ideal person will be someone who has a hands-on approach, knowledge of, and empathy for the New Zealand dairy industry. An integral part of this role will be interacting with farmers and field-based staff to ensure LIC deliver a quality service.
