Job summary

The Kids Place in Northcote, Auckland is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join a multidisciplinary team on a part-time basis. You will deliver therapeutic interventions to help children develop life skills, independence, and confidence, working with families and schools as part of a supportive team.

  • Registered Occupational Therapist with NZ registration.
  • Experience with paediatric populations across developmental stages.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive OT assessments to identify development needs and goals.
  • Create and implement individualised treatment plans.
  • Deliver interventions focusing on motor skills, sensory integration, emotional regulation, and play.
  • Collaborate with families, schools and other professionals.
  • Educate families on home strategies and home-programs.
  • Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed to optimize outcomes.
  • Maintain compliant clinical records and participate in team meetings.
  • Contribute to clinic protocols and best practice.

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join The Kids Place in Northcote, Auckland. This is a part-time position . As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in our multidisciplinary team, delivering therapeutic interventions that help children develop essential life skills, independence, and confidence.

Key responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify children's developmental needs, and therapeutic goals
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment plans tailored to each child's specific requirements and developmental stage
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions focusing on underpinning learning skills, fine and gross motor skills, sensory integration, emotional regulation, and play.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic care
  • Provide education and training to families on therapeutic strategies that can be implemented at home
  • Monitor and document client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure the child receives the best support
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in compliance with professional standards and The Kids Place policies
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of clinic protocols and best practice standards
  • Liaise with schools and other community services to support children's participation in everyday environments
What we are looking for
  • A registered Occupational Therapist with a relevant tertiary qualification and current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand
  • Experience working with children across various developmental stages and presenting conditions
  • Knowledge of child development, developmental delay, neuro -diversity, and evidence-based occupational therapy interventions
  • Strong assessment and clinical observational skills with the ability to identify functional needs and set achievable therapeutic goals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping in accordance with professional standards
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Professional knowledge of relevant New Zealand legislation, including the Health Information Privacy Code and relevant health and safety standards
  • Experience in paediatric occupational therapy settings such as clinics, schools, or early intervention services
