We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join The Kids Place in Northcote, Auckland. This is a part-time position . As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in our multidisciplinary team, delivering therapeutic interventions that help children develop essential life skills, independence, and confidence.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify children's developmental needs, and therapeutic goals
- Develop and implement individualised treatment plans tailored to each child's specific requirements and developmental stage
- Deliver therapeutic interventions focusing on underpinning learning skills, fine and gross motor skills, sensory integration, emotional regulation, and play.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic care
- Provide education and training to families on therapeutic strategies that can be implemented at home
- Monitor and document client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure the child receives the best support
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in compliance with professional standards and The Kids Place policies
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of clinic protocols and best practice standards
- Liaise with schools and other community services to support children's participation in everyday environments
What we are looking for
- A registered Occupational Therapist with a relevant tertiary qualification and current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand
- Experience working with children across various developmental stages and presenting conditions
- Knowledge of child development, developmental delay, neuro -diversity, and evidence-based occupational therapy interventions
- Strong assessment and clinical observational skills with the ability to identify functional needs and set achievable therapeutic goals
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping in accordance with professional standards
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Professional knowledge of relevant New Zealand legislation, including the Health Information Privacy Code and relevant health and safety standards
- Experience in paediatric occupational therapy settings such as clinics, schools, or early intervention services
