Job summary

The Wakari hospital-based Community Occupational Therapy team is a close-knit group dedicated to putting the patient at the centre of care. In this role you will spend clinical time with patients in the community or at their homes, ensuring safety and independence for longer.

Applicants should be an accredited Enable assessor with complex housing, Level 1 wheelchair and seating, or working towards credentialing; you will prescribe equipment, complete electronic funding paperwork, supervise OT

Qualifications

  • This role requires an experienced Occupational Therapist with accreditation as an Enable assessor and credentials in complex housing, Level 1 wheelchair & seating, or working towards these areas.
  • Strong computer literacy to complete electronic paperwork for funding of equipment and resources.
  • Excellent time management and ability to manage a busy caseload with energy and enthusiasm.

Responsibilities

  • Spend clinical time with patients in the community or in their homes to support safety and independence.
  • Facilitate and prescribe complex adaptive equipment or environmental adaptations and wheelchair/seating needs.
  • Supervise OT student placements and participate in CPD and ongoing professional development.

About the Team and Role

The Wakari hospital-based Community Occupational Therapy team is a close-knit dedicated team of professionals with the same interests as you – "putting the patient at the centre of everything that they do". As a Community Occupational Therapist, you will spend your clinical time with patients in the community or in their homes ensuring their safety and independence for longer.

About the Opportunity

This role ideally requires an experienced Occupational Therapist who is an accredited Enable assessor, holding complex housing, Level 1 Wheelchair & seating or working towards credentialing in these areas. You'll be experienced in facilitating and prescribing complex adaptive equipment or environmental adaptations, provision of wheelchairs and or seating requirements for patients. You'll be computer literate with strong attention to detail to allow you to complete electronic paperwork for funding of equipment and resources.

We offer supervision and opportunities for ongoing professional development. Teaching and supervision of OT student placements, and participation in CPD is an expectation of this role.

About You

If you are a self-motivated efficient and productive person with excellent time management skills and able to prioritise and manage a busy case load and bring energy and enthusiasm and a can-do attitude, we would love to hear from you.

You must hold a full clean driver's licence and be registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand, holding a current annual practising certificate.
