Job summary

C.H. Robinson Oceania is seeking a Customs Broker to ensure accurate and timely submission of customs entries for clearance in New Zealand.

You will develop knowledge of NZ regulatory requirements, liaise with NZCS, MPI, customers and transport providers, and uphold operational excellence with accurate classifications, valuations, and compliance. Strong communication and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of Customs Brokerage experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate mastery of customs brokerage SOPs and best practices.
• Analyse and validate import and export documentation to ensure compliance with NZ regulatory requirements.
• Prepare, review, and lodge Customs and biosecurity entries with NZCS and MPI.
• Classify goods using tariff codes and determine applicable duties, GST, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure all shipments comply with NZ Customs, MPI, and other government agency requirements.
• Liaise with customers, transport providers, Customs, MPI, and other stakeholders to facilitate timely clearance and delivery of cargo.
• Identify and resolve compliance issues that may result in shipment delays, inspections, or charges.
• Complete tariff classifications, customs valuations, and clearance activities accurately and within required timeframes.
• Maintain customer SOPs and ensure operational excellence through accuracy, compliance, and customer service.
• Operate customs brokerage systems including Expedient and Microsoft Office applications.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and process optimisation.
