Job summary

Tāmaki Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join clinics delivering high-quality GP and Urgent Care services across Auckland. You will triage and provide patient care, reporting to the Medical Director, with vacancies in Urgent Care and General Practice across Ascot, Henderson, St Luke's, Otahuhu, Glenfield and more.

The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, medication management, health promotion, and collaboration with fellow practitioners.

Qualifications

  • Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner or passed Nursing Council evaluation to become a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Advanced experience in Acute Nursing.
  • General Practice and Urgent Care nursing experience is desirable.
  • Current Indemnity Insurance (NZNO Registration) preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Awareness of ACC and PHC.
  • Familiarity with MedTech 32 or MedTech Evolution is an advantage.
  • Commitment to health equity and Maori tikanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions for patients with complex needs.
  • Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness per evidence-based practice and protocols.
  • Provide information/advice on prescribed or OTC medications and interactions.
  • Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies and self-care principles.
  • Organize follow-ups with patients' GPs unless urgent care expertise is required.

About the position

Our Nurse Practitioner plays a vital part in the day-to-day operation of our clinic, reporting to our Medical Director, you will be responsible for ensuring proper triage and patient care we offer positions either in Urgent Care or General Practice, accordingly to your expectations and experience, we have vacancies open at our clinics in Urgent Care in Ascot, Henderson, St Luke's, Otahuhu and Glenfield and also in General Practice Clinics in South and West Auckland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions/treatments for patients with complex needs.
  • Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols, and within the scope of practice
  • Provide information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication, medication regimens, side effects and interactions
  • Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles, and apply principles of self-care
  • Follow-up arrangements for casual patients should be with the patient's own GP unless particular urgent care expertise is required e.g.: X-Ray, complex wound management, fracture management, IVI treatment of cellulitis

You will need to have:

  • Current registration as a nurse Practitioner or Passed Nursing Council evaluation to become a Nurse Practitioner
  • Advanced experience in Acute Nursing
  • General Practice and Urgent Care nursing experience is desirable
  • Current Indemnity Insurance (NZNO Registration)- Preferable
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage conflicting priorities
  • Awareness of ACC and PHC
  • Being familiar with MedTech 32 or MedTech Evolution (or similar) would be an advantage
  • Someone who is committed to the principles of health equity and cultural competency and who is able to demonstrate an understanding of Māori tikanga and kawa and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
