Responsibilities

  • Monitor telecom network infrastructure for performance and availability.
  • Respond to alerts, alarms and service degradation notifications.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting to identify root causes.
  • Escalate incidents with clear information to engineers or support.
  • Document events, actions and resolutions in the incident system.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician to join their monitoring team in Queenstown . In this critical role, you will be responsible for continuously monitoring the health and performance of the company's telecommunications network, identifying and responding to alerts and outages in real-time. You will play a key part in maintaining network stability and ensuring service availability for a large customer base. This is an excellent opportunity for an IT or telecom professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for ensuring seamless network operations. Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor telecom network infrastructure using sophisticated monitoring tools for performance and availability.
  • Respond promptly to network alerts, alarms, and service degradation notifications.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting and diagnostic steps to identify the root cause of network issues.
  • Escalate critical incidents to appropriate engineering or support teams, providing clear and concise information.
  • Document all network events, actions taken, and resolutions in the incident management system.
  • Collaborate with other NOC team members to ensure continuous network surveillance and support coverage.
Requirements
  • Experience working in a Network Operations Center (NOC) environment or similar technical support role.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP), and topologies.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring software (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios).
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, as part of a 24/7 operation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills under pressure.
  • Good communication skills for effective incident reporting and escalation.
