Job summary

New Zealand Intelligence Community (NZIC) in Wellington, on the North Island, seeks passionate software engineers for the Technology & Data team. Expressions of interest cover Level1, Level2, and Level3 roles to design, build, and integrate applications that support the NZ Government’s national security framework.

Key responsibilities include design specification, tool evaluation, feature development, and documentation for certification and handover.

Qualifications

• Must have strong software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with modern software development practices.
• Familiarity with container ecosystems and CI/CD processes.
• Understanding of security considerations in software delivery.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate ideas into detailed design specifications.
• Evaluate and integrate tools that meet functional and security requirements.
• Develop features or components when commercial solutions are unsuitable, including testing and UAT.
• Monitor emerging technologies and recommend improvements for capability and efficiency.
• Create clear support guides and maintain documentation for certification and handover.
• Diagnose defects, optimise performance, and apply patches to codebases.
• Act as a technical advisor to other teams on architecture and best practices.
