The Public Defence Service - New Zealand is seeking a National Registry Officer for Auckland. This role supports Courts and Tribunals, delivering timely, people-centred justice services and acting as a Deputy Registrar when required.
The NRO role focuses on centralised services across the National Registry, providing first-point contact for inquiries, and ensuring information is accurate for hearings and processes. Auckland-based with relocation to Ellerslie in March 2027.

National Registry Officers (NROs) play a critical role in the successful operation of Centralised Services, working as part of either the National Registry or National Registry Services to deliver timely and efficient service to participants.
National Registry Services is the first point of contact for anyone calling the Ministry, from wondering what time their local court opens, queries about Jury Duty to questions about upcoming hearings. All our calls are unique, with every touchpoint in this team viewed as an opportunity to help people. We do so one-call at a time with respect and kindness at the forefront.
The National Registry focus on decision making and referring to legislation to process customer applications and responding to correspondence. The National Registry Officer role includes exercising powers as a Deputy Registrar of the District Court.
This position will orginally be based at the Auckland District Court, scheduled to relocate to Ellerslie in March 2027.

The remuneration band for this role is $60,729-$80,794 – the appointing salary will be based on skills and experience
