Job summary

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is offering a six-month internal secondment to a Contract Manager – Professional Services within the National Contracts team. You will oversee a portfolio of professional services contracts supporting maintenance delivery across the state highway network.

You will navigate Consultancy Contract Conditions, administer contracts, and coordinate with local teams and suppliers to keep commercial processes on track.

Qualifications

• Experience administering professional services, consultancy, infrastructure or similar contracts.
• Ability to read, understand and apply contract documents and follow processes.
• Experience preparing professional correspondence, notices, service orders and variations.
• Strong administration, attention to detail and reliable record-keeping.
• Coordinate multiple activities, approvals and deadlines with process discipline.

Responsibilities

• Administer professional services contracts per Consultancy Contract Conditions.
• Prepare contractual correspondence and notices to consultants.
• Assess payment information and maintain records of approvals and changes.
• Coordinate with local NZTA teams on programmes and resource needs.
• Allocate and onboard suitably qualified resources across regions.
• Monitor contract expenditure and support value-for-money decisions.
• Maintain clear communication with suppliers and stakeholders.
• Identify risks and escalate issues when needed.
• Monitor supplier performance and coordinate improvements.
• Maintain complete and audit-ready contract records.
• Coordinate monthly reporting on cost, progress, risks and performance.
• Implement improvements to contract performance and efficiency.
