Job summary

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi in Auckland, Wellington, or other regional offices is offering a six-month internal contract management assignment for professional services. You will own a portfolio of contracts under the Integrated Delivery Model, coordinating resources and ensuring commercial processes are followed to support maintenance delivery across the state highway network.

Qualifications

• Experience administering professional services contracts.
• Ability to read, understand and apply contract documents and follow defined processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong administration skills with meticulous record-keeping.
• Ability to coordinate multiple activities and deadlines with limited supervision.
• Proactive, self-directed, and able to build relationships with diverse teams.
• Understanding of procurement, delegated authority and value-for-money requirements, or willingness to learn.
• Willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga and te reo Māori, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in public service.

Responsibilities

• Administer professional services contracts in line with Consultancy Contract Conditions and NZTA requirements.
• Prepare contractual correspondence, notices to consultants, service orders and variations.
• Assess payment information and maintain records of approvals, expenditure and contract changes.
• Coordinate with local NZTA teams to understand programmes and resource needs.
• Monitor contract expenditure and support value-for-money decisions.
• Maintain structured communications with suppliers and stakeholders and escalate issues as needed.
• Identify and mitigate risks across delivery, procurement and performance.
• Monitor supplier performance and coordinate improvement actions where required.
• Maintain audit-ready contract records and monthly cost/progress/risk reporting.
• Identify practical improvements to strengthen contract performance and efficiency.
