Job summary

Whitestone Contracting is seeking a Multiskilled Operator to join the Waitaki Road Maintenance team. This hands-on role involves operating plant and machinery, performing routine maintenance, and supporting reactive and emergency works to keep local roads safe and well maintained.

The ideal candidate will have roading or civil construction experience, be comfortable switching between tasks, and uphold health and safety standards while working with a team and the public.

Qualifications

• Has previous experience in roading, civil construction or road maintenance.
• Is confident operating plant and machinery.
• Is practical, reliable and willing to get stuck in.
• Can work well both independently and as part of a team.
• Has a strong commitment to health and safety.
• Takes pride in the quality of their work.
• Has good communication and record-keeping skills.
• Can adapt to changing priorities and different types of work.

Responsibilities

• Operating a range of plant, vehicles and machinery.
• Carrying out routine road maintenance and physical works.
• Supporting reactive and emergency maintenance.
• Assisting with site and traffic management activities.
• Completing daily plant and vehicle checks.
• Looking after and maintaining vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Working safely around the public, traffic and other crews.
• Completing job sheets, timesheets, logbooks and other required records.
• Working closely with the wider Waitaki Road Maintenance team.

Whitestone Contracting is looking for an experienced Multiskilled Operator to join our Waitaki Road Maintenance team.

This is a hands‑on role where you'll be involved in a wide range of road maintenance activities. You'll operate plant and machinery, carry out physical works, support routine and reactive maintenance, and help respond to urgent and emergency works when required.
