Job summary

SouthRoads Ltd is seeking a Contract Manager to lead our Maintenance Operations team across Southland and Otago. You will own the relationship with Southland District Council on maintenance contracts, plan reactive and cyclic works, deploy crews and plant, and monitor KPIs.

You will also coordinate with the workshop on plant maintenance and manage projects to ensure reliable service. We value a calm head under pressure, a background in maintenance or roading, and a proven ability to lead people

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Plan reactive and cyclic works and deploy crews and plant as needed.
• Maintain divisions plant in liaison with the workshop and manage projects.
• Oversee contract reviews and ensure alignment with Council requirements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Southland District Council and other stakeholders.

SouthRoads is looking for a Contract Manager to run our Maintenance Operations team, covering everything from scheduled reseals to the 2am call-out after a slip takes out a culvert. This isn't a build-it-once-and-move-on role, it's ongoing, it's varied, and no two weeks look the same.

About The role

You'll own the relationship, Southland District Council on our maintenance contracts, which means you're as comfortable in a contract review meeting as you are standing in the rain looking at a washout. Day to day you're planning reactive and cyclic works, deploying crews and plant where they're needed most in conjunction with other Contract Managers, keeping an eye on contract KPIs, and making the call when weather changes everyone's plans for the day. You will maintain the divisions plant in liaison with our workshop and manage projects.

About you

We need someone who's done this before, genuine maintenance or roading experience, a working knowledge of council requirements, and the kind of calm head that doesn't panic when three things go wrong before smoko. You'll be leading people, so they need to want to follow you, not just report to you.
