Job summary

SouthRoads Ltd in Invercargill is hiring Class 4/5 drivers/plant operators to support civil construction across multiple sites. The roles offer guaranteed 40 hours per week with overtime opportunities and ongoing training.

We value safety, reliability, and teamwork as you contribute to quarrying, road works, and earthworks across Southland and Otago. Training may be provided for motivated candidates.

Qualifications

• Current Class 4 or Class 5 driver’s licence.
• 3 years' recent experience operating excavators, graders, rollers, loaders, pavers on civil construction or roading projects, or NZQCF Level 4 qualification.
• Strong commitment to health and safety.
• Reliable work ethic and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Driving and operating Class 4 and Class 5 vehicles
• Transporting construction materials, plant, and equipment to and from sites
• Assisting with earthworks, road construction, quarrying and maintenance projects
• Carrying out labouring and site support duties as required
• Completing daily vehicle and equipment inspections
• Following health, safety, and environmental procedures
• Working as part of a team to deliver quality project outcomes

What's the opportunity?

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Southland, working across a variety of project locations throughout the region.

You’ll be part of a skilled crew delivering civil construction projects ranging from quarry sites, subdivisions and private developments to local council and NZTA roading works. Standard hours are Monday to Friday, with additional hours and overtime available when project requirements demand.
