Job summary

JobSpace in Auckland, New Zealand, is seeking passionate Montessori ECE Assistants to join our early childhood education team. This support role works with the teaching team to provide a safe, positive, and nurturing environment for children aged 0–6.

New Zealand teacher registration is not required. Starting pay is $26–$30 per hour for at least 30 hours per week, with overtime paid at the same rate and periodic reviews of pay as experience grows.

Qualifications

• At least two years of relevant work experience in a Montessori education setting; or
• A recognised Montessori teaching qualification, such as AMI, AMS, or equivalent.
• A caring, patient, and dedicated approach to children's growth;
• Strong communication and teamwork skills;
• Willingness to collaborate and grow within the Montessori philosophy;
• Ability to pass police vetting and pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Supervising and caring for children aged 0 to 6 during daily activities in a Montessori classroom, while supporting the implementation of Montessori principles;
• Assisting with Montessori-based learning activities and classroom routines;
• Supporting children’s social, emotional and physical development;
• Helping prepare learning materials and maintaining a clean, safe and organised learning environment;
• Assisting children with meals, hygiene and other daily routines;
• Observing children, documenting relevant information, and communicating observations to teaching staff;
• Fostering positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues;
• Upholding the centre’s health, safety and child protection policies.

About the role
