Job summary

Best Start is seeking passionate Montessori ECE Assistants to join our early childhood education team. This role supports the teaching team to provide a safe, nurturing environment for children aged 0 to 6. The position offers a starting pay of NZD 26–30 per hour, fixed by experience, for at least 30 hours per week, with overtime paid at the same rate.

New Zealand teacher registration is not required. We value caring, patient individuals who collaborate and grow within the Montessori philosophy

Qualifications

• Two years of Montessori education experience or AMI/AMS qualification.
• Caring, patient, and dedicated approach to children.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Able to pass police vetting and pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Supervising and caring for children aged 0 to 6 in a Montessori classroom.
• Assisting with Montessori-based learning activities and routines.
• Supporting children’s social, emotional and physical development.
• Preparing learning materials and maintaining a safe, clean environment.
• Assisting with meals, hygiene and daily routines.
