Early learning / kōhanga reo, Certificated teacher

We are looking for an experienced teacher to work in our toddler room. You will be passionate about children of this age group and have a solid understanding of development stages, strategies and skills to successfully promote respectful and best practice to our environment. We are a beautiful centre set in the heart of Onehunga. We value quality teaching and learning and offer lower ratio's to achieve quality care and education for our children. Key responsibilities include:
  • Plan and implement play-based and structured learning experiences across indoor, outdoor and excursions.
  • Provide age-appropriate provocations and experiences that support children’s physical, social, emotional, language and cognitive development, confidence and independence.
  • Support language and communication through storytelling, role play, songs,group activities and conversations.
  • Observe, assess and document children’s learning, behaviour and development, identifying areas where additional support may be required.
  • Monitor children’s health, wellbeing, nutrition and safety, including signs of illness or developmental and emotional concerns.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment that responds to individual needs.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and whānau about children’s learning, development, wellbeing and support needs.
  • Participate in parent-teacher interviews, staff and planning meetings, professional development and centre events.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and other professionals to support positive outcomes for children.
  • Support student teachers during practical placements and participate in relevant community programmes.
  • Follow centre policies and procedures and all applicable ECE, health, safety and child-protection requirements.
