Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Mine Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and repair of heavy mining equipment at their facility in Queenstown. You will lead a team of mechanics and technicians, manage work schedules, and ensure spare parts availability with a strong focus on safety and efficiency.

The role demands deep knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and diesel engines, plus CMMS proficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising maintenance teams for heavy mining equipment.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities with a focus on safety.
• Trade qualification in diesel mechanics, fitting and turning, or electrical work is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of the maintenance team including mechanics and electricians.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for mining equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on heavy mining gear.
• Ensure all maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and order supplies for continuity.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide training and development opportunities.

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Mine Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and repair of heavy mining equipment at their facility in Queenstown . This leadership role is critical for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of the mining fleet, minimizing downtime, and upholding safety standards. You will lead a team of mechanics and technicians, manage work schedules, and ensure the availability of spare parts. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in heavy equipment maintenance, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to operational efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team , including mechanics and electricians.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all mining equipment (e.g., excavators, trucks, drills).
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on heavy mining machinery.
• Ensure all maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and order necessary supplies to ensure operational continuity.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide training and development opportunities for the maintenance team.

Requirements

• Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic, Fitter and Turner, or Electrician.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role managing maintenance teams for heavy mining equipment .
• Proven experience with preventative and corrective maintenance strategies.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and diesel engines.
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
