Job summary

Enterprise Recruitment in Christchurch, New Zealand, is seeking 3 Metal Fabricators/Welders to join a growing Canterbury team. Permanent employment with a 30-hour workweek, Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm, and a competitive package await the right candidates.

You will weld mild steel using arc and MIG techniques, interpret drawings, and fabricate/repair metal components on-site in a Kiwi-owned company environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of verifiable welding experience.
• Arc and MIG welding of mild steel in a workshop.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and dimensions.
• Fabricate and repair metal products using welding techniques.
• Create mild steel products in various welding positions.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Select, prepare and cut metal stock for welding.
• Join metal sections using welding, bolts or riveting as needed.
• Finish welds by cleaning, polishing and smoothing.

To be successful for this role, you need to have the following skills and2years’verifiableworkexperience:

• Perform arc &migmild steel welding in aworkshopenvironment
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and dimensions
• Work off site to install heavy and mild Steel
• Fabricate and repair metal products using a variety of welding techniques
• Create a variety of mild steel products in vertical ups, horizontal and overhead styles of welding

In addition to the above, the right candidate must be able to perform the following tasks:

• Studying blueprints,drawingsand specifications todeterminejob requirements
• Selecting,cleaningand preparing metal stock
• Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines
• Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
• Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
• Joining metal sections using various welding techniques,boltingand riveting
• Examining welds for width of bead,penetrationand precision
• Finishing products by cleaning, polishing,filingand bathing in acidic solutions
• Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing,chisellingand grinding
