Job summary

Petstock NZ is seeking an experienced Merchandise Planner to join our New Zealand Merchandise team. Reporting to the Merchandise Planning Manager NZ, you will forecast demand, manage inventories and Open To Buy (OTB) processes to support sustainable growth.

You will partner with Marketing, Supply Chain and Store teams to build category budgets, monitor stock turnover and GMROI, and deliver data-driven insights to inform commercial decisions.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Merchandise Planning or inventory planning.
  • Strong forecasting and analytical skills.
  • Experience with budgeting, replenishment and allocation processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills and data analysis capability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

Join Petstock NZ and help drive inventory performance, commercial outcomes, and category success.

We are looking for an experienced Merchandise Planner to join our New Zealand Merchandise team. Reporting to the Merchandise Planning Manager NZ, you will play a key role in forecasting, inventory management, financial planning, and delivering data driven insights that support business growth.

  • Developing and managing category budgets, forecasts, and inventory plans.
  • Driving stockturn, GMROI, and inventory productivity outcomes.
  • Analysing sales, inventory, and category performance to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Managing seasonal buy plans, forecasting, and Open To Buy (OTB) processes.
  • Partnering with Merchandise, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to achieve commercial objectives.
  • Providing reporting, insights, and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

What sets you apart
  • Previous experience in Merchandise Planning, Inventory Planning, or a similar retail planning role.
  • Strong forecasting, analytical, and commercial acumen.
  • Experience with inventory management, replenishment, allocation, and budgeting processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A positive, proactive approach and passion for delivering results.
