Job summary

AIA is seeking a Claims Assessor - Medical in Auckland, New Zealand. You will assess medical claims within our life/health portfolio, communicating outcomes clearly to customers and advisers while liaising with medical professionals and internal teams.

You will apply medical terminology and judgment to ensure fair decisions, manage risks, and support continuous improvement in the claims journey for our clients across Asia-Pacific.

Qualifications

• Experience assessing or managing claims in life and/or health insurance.
• Strong communication with customers and stakeholders.
• Ability to make sound decisions under ambiguity.
• High attention to detail and adherence to processes.
• Ability to understand/apply medical terminology in claims.
• Comfort with using digital systems to support outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assess and investigate medical claims to deliver fair, timely outcomes.
• Communicate decisions clearly and empathetically to customers.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
• Identify and manage risks, including non-disclosure and potential fraud.
• Prepare clear recommendations and present cases to the Claims Committee.
• Contribute to continuous improvement to enhance customer experience and efficiency.
