Job description

MBM is one of NZ’s most recognised multi-disciplinary media agencies, working with many of New Zealand’s best-known brands. We work with our clients to provide market-leading integrated media communication solutions.

Things are different at MBM. We don’t just pump out media plans, we problem solve with creative, communications-led thinking to solve our client’s business challenges.

Our success is grounded in our people and values. We believe that by empowering smart, curious and passionate people, we can deliver strong, demonstrable outcomes for our clients.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Planner Buyer to join our Auckland team, working across a diverse portfolio of clients. This is a hands-on role with real variety, where you’ll be involved across the full campaign lifecycle, from planning and strategy through to buying, implementation and reporting.

The role has a strong digital focus, with an approximate 60/40 split across digital and offline media. You’ll work closely with senior team members and specialist teams, gaining exposure across a broad range of channels and campaign objectives.

If you’re currently working in a digital-focused role and want to broaden your experience beyond activation, this is a great opportunity to build stronger planning, strategy and client skills while continuing to work closely with digital media and platforms. You’ll have plenty of support as you grow your channel knowledge and take on more client-facing responsibility.

What you’ll be doing
  • Contributing to media and communications planning, translating strategy into strong implementation plans
  • Undertaking research and using industry tools (e.g. Nielsen, GWI, Google Trends) to inform recommendations
  • Managing campaign implementation end-to-end, ensuring activity is delivered accurately and on time
  • Briefing and negotiating with media partners to deliver the best outcomes for clients
  • Monitoring campaign performance and delivering insightful reporting, feeding learnings into future activity
  • Supporting strong client servicing and day-to-day account management
  • Collaborating with internal specialists and contributing to a high-performing, team-first environment
About you
  • Around 1–2+ years of experience within a media agency environment, whether in planning, digital or campaign execution
  • A solid understanding of media fundamentals and planning principles
  • Strong digital foundations, with exposure to campaign implementation or media platforms
  • Experience across offline media is a bonus, but we’re equally interested in someone keen to build that capability
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence working with numbers, data and campaign reporting
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with clients, media partners and internal teams
  • A proactive, curious mindset, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges
  • Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines while working collaboratively as part of a team
If this sounds like you…

If you’re ready for your next step and want to be part of a team where you can grow, contribute and do genuinely interesting work, we’d love to hear from you.
