Job summary

Dynamic Group Ltd in Auckland, North Island, seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician to provide technical support for mechanical and HVAC projects, including installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and QA. You will prepare drawings, interpret specifications, coordinate installation, conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with NZ standards.

The role requires reading drawings, solving technical problems, and strong communication to liaise with engineers, managers

Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • Relevant practical experience in mechanical engineering, HVAC or building mechanical services.
  • Experience with commercial HVAC or building-services projects is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Mechanical Engineers and Project Managers with installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical and HVAC systems.
  • Prepare and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, technical documents and equipment schedules.
  • Carry out site inspections, measurements and technical assessments.
  • Assist in coordinating the installation of HVAC equipment, ductwork, pipework and associated mechanical services.
  • Inspect mechanical installations to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, manufacturer requirements and applicable standards.
  • Assist with testing, balancing, commissioning and troubleshooting of mechanical and HVAC systems.
  • Identify installation issues, clashes and technical problems and assist with developing practical solutions.
  • Conduct tests and collect and analyse data relating to mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Assist with equipment selection and preparation of material and equipment schedules.
  • Liaise with engineers, project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors and other trades to coordinate mechanical works.
  • Monitor project progress and assist with quality assurance and quality control documentation.
  • Prepare site reports, inspection records, commissioning documentation and other technical reports.
  • Assist with diagnosing faults in mechanical equipment and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure mechanical works are completed in accordance with project specifications, health and safety requirements and relevant New Zealand standards.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will provide technical support for mechanical and HVAC projects, including installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, quality assurance and coordination of mechanical systems on commercial and construction projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Requirements

Applicants should have either:

  • A relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field; or
  • Relevant practical experience in mechanical engineering, HVAC or building mechanical services appropriate to the position.

Previous experience working on commercial HVAC or mechanical building-services projects would be an advantage.

The successful applicant should have:

  • Good understanding of mechanical and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Good technical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
  • Good attention to quality, safety and technical compliance.
  • Ability to work across project sites as required.
