Job summary

Tony's Tyre & Auto Care – East Tamaki, North Island is seeking a full-time automotive technician to specialise in wheel alignments and steering/suspension, with responsibilities across servicing and repairs for a variety of vehicles.

The role offers 45 hours per week, Monday to Saturday, in a safety-first workshop. You will diagnose faults with modern equipment, advise customers on tyre options, and assist with tyre fitting and general workshop duties.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on mechanical or automotive experience, or a relevant trade qualification.
• Full, clean New Zealand Driver's Licence.
• Customer-first mindset with the ability to explain work clearly.
• Strong attention to detail and aim to get it right first time.
• Good physical fitness for active, on-your-feet work.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform wheel alignments and steering/suspension adjustments using computerised equipment.
• Carry out general and specialised mechanical servicing and repairs across a wide range of vehicles.
• Diagnose faults using modern testing equipment.
• Advise customers on tyre options and vehicle handling.
• Support the team with tyre fitting, puncture repairs and general workshop duties.

The Opportunity

This is a full-time, permanent position where you'll be doing meaningful, varied work every day. You'll be the go-to person for wheel alignments and steering and suspension work, while also contributing to the wider workshop with mechanical servicing and repairs. This is a hands-on role in a well-organised, safety-first environment where your expertise is respected and your development is supported.

This role is 45 hours per week, Monday to Saturday.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Performing wheel alignments and steering and suspension adjustments using computerised alignment equipment
• Performing general and specialised mechanical servicing and repairs across a wide range of vehicles
• Accurately diagnosing faults using modern testing equipment
• Advising customers on tyre options, vehicle handling and what their car actually needs to keep safe on our roads
• Supporting the team with tyre fitting, puncture repairs and general workshop duties

What We're Looking For

Experience matters in this role — here's what we're looking for:

• A minimum of 3 years' hands-on mechanical or automotive experience, or a relevant trade qualification
• A full, clean New Zealand Driver's Licence
