Job summary

Blokhaus in Canterbury is seeking skilled Masons to join our team on diverse residential, commercial, and restoration projects. You will lay bricks, blocks, and stone, and work with experienced tradespeople to build high-quality structures safely.

The role requires reading drawings, preparing mortars, and maintaining safety on site, with opportunities for long-term training and development in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years masonry/bricklaying experience; qualification preferred but not compulsory.
• Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor.
• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship pride.
• Ability to read and follow construction drawings accurately.
• Commitment to safety practices and site protocols.
• Reliable, punctual, and hardworking attitude.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
• Own standard trade tools and PPE available.

Responsibilities

• Laying bricks, blocks, stone and veneers on sites.
• Preparing mortars, adhesives and bed foundations accurately.
• Cutting, shaping, and dressing stone or brick materials.
• Reading and interpreting structural drawings and specs.
• Building retaining walls, cladding, feature walls, and paving.
• Ensuring structures are level and plumb to tolerances.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, organized work site and tools.
• Adhering to health and safety guidelines on site.

We are seeking skilled and reliable Masons to join our team in Canterbury. This role offers exciting opportunities to work across a variety of residential, commercial, and restoration construction projects. Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you will play a key role in laying bricks, blocks, and stone to construct durable, high-quality structures safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Laying bricks, concrete blocks, natural stone, and stone veneers on construction sites
• Preparing mortar mixes, adhesives, and laying foundations or beds accurately
• Cutting, shaping, and dressing stone or brick materials using hand and power tools
• Reading and interpreting structural drawings, plans, and specifications
• Building retaining walls, exterior cladding, feature walls, and paved areas
• Ensuring structures are level, plumb, and aligned to exact tolerances
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work site, including proper tool maintenance
• Adhering strictly to all health and safety guidelines while working on site

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 2years of relevant masonry, bricklaying, or blocklaying experience (qualification preferred but not compulsory)
• Strong physical fitness and the ability to handle heavy lifting and manual labor
• High level of attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
