Job summary

Ara Poutama Aotearoa – Department of Corrections seeks a Supervisor/Kaimahi to support residents in a culturally responsive rehabilitation programme that integrates kaupapa Māori and tikanga Māori with evidence-based practices. The role covers residential duties and supervising external activities within a therapeutic community.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, model calm leadership, and contribute to outcomes that improve community safety.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate effectively within a Māori cultural setting.
• Knowledge of Te Reo Māori and experience with pōwhiri and whakatau in a marae environment.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively, build rapport and establish positive relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to remain calm, measured and resilient in high‑pressure situations.
• A full New Zealand driver’s licence, with the ability to drive both manual and automatic vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Supervise residents within the residential programme.
• Support participants during external activities.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver the rehabilitation programme.
