Job summary

Global Wave Group in Albany, Auckland is seeking a Java Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems powering critical business applications. You will work with product managers, QA engineers, and other developers to deliver reliable, secure, high-performance solutions.

The role demands 3+ years of professional Java development, strong Java 8+ and Spring Boot, RESTful API design, microservices, and experience with MySQL, ORM frameworks, Git, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong Java 8+ and Spring Boot proficiency.
• Solid RESTful API design and development experience.
• Experience with Microservices Architecture.
• Strong SQL skills with relational DBs (MySQL).
• Experience with ORM frameworks such as MyBatis, Hibernate, or JPA.
• Git and CI/CD pipelines experience.
• Experience with AWS cloud platforms, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).
• Familiarity with Redis or similar caching technologies and monitoring tools (ELK, Grafana, Prometheus).
• Knowledge of application security and authentication mechanisms.
• FinTech / Trading / CRM / Payment or Enterprise Systems experience is a plus.
• Strong Chinese written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build scalable RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Design and optimize database structures and queries.
• Integrate with third-party systems and external APIs.
• Participate in architecture and technical design discussions.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues.
• Improve performance, reliability, and security of applications.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code.
• Perform code reviews and share knowledge with the team.
• Collaborate within Agile development teams.
