Job summary

Ara Poutama Aotearoa - Department of Corrections is seeking a Manager Organisational Learning to lead the department's approach to learning and continuous improvement, transforming everyday experience and disruptive events into proactive insights that strengthen performance and capability.

You will coordinate learning across the organisation, align findings with governance and external providers, and foster accountability and a culture of learning and improvement to support safer public

Mō te tūnga | About the role

The Manager Organisational Learning leads the department's approach to organisational learning and continuous improvement. It helps transform everyday experience and operationally disruptive, complex, and unexpected events into proactive insights that strengthen performance, build capability, and improve organisational outcomes. This role oversees the delivery of organisation-wide learning activities and reviews and ensures high-quality post-event learning processes that provide practical, work-as-done insights. As Manager Organisational Learning, you'll coordinate learning across the organisation, integrate findings from multiple sources, support capability building, and ensure recommendations are effectively implemented and sustained. Working closely with governance, operational leaders, oversight agencies, and external providers, the role plays a critical part in strengthening organisational performance and fostering a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.

You are an experienced people leader with expertise in organisational learning and continuous improvement within a complex or high-risk environment. As a strong relationship builder with high emotional intelligence, you can influence and engage stakeholders at all levels while leading a high-performing team. You are a systems thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, able to connect detailed insights to broader organisational context and outcomes.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The midpoint of the salary range is $171,226 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $145,543 - $205,472 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
