Job summary

The Ministry of Social Development is seeking a Manager Internal Communications to lead internal communications and knowledge content for Service Delivery in the Wellington National Office. This permanent role is based in Wellington and focuses on aligning communications with Service Delivery priorities.

You will work with senior leaders to plan, coordinate and deliver clear, timely information, lead a team, and embed Te Pae Tawhiti, Te Pae Tata and Pacific Prosperity strategies in daily work.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in internal communications leadership across complex organisations.
• Strong understanding of frontline audience needs and audience-driven approaches.
• Experience using analytics and audience insights to shape strategy.
• Proven people leadership, building capability and aligning teams.
• Skilled in strategic planning, project and financial management.
• Ability to lead through change while maintaining delivery quality.
• Understanding of the public sector environment and government processes.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Teams for knowledge management.
• Tertiary qualification in communications or related discipline desirable or equivalent experience.

• Provide strategic and operational leadership across internal communications channels, leadership communications and operational knowledge.
• Plan and coordinate communications that support organisational alignment, operational readiness, engagement and change.

• Strengthen systems, standards and ways of working across internal communications and knowledge content.
• Set direction for the wider communications function and collaborate with leaders across the organisation.
