Job description

Keep our operations running. Maintain critical equipment. Be part of something bigger.

We're looking for an experienced and practical Maintenance Tradesperson to join our Bluff Salmon team and help keep our processing operations running safely, efficiently and reliably.

You’ll work across a wide variety of mechanical equipment, processing machinery, plant services and site infrastructure, while playing a key role in supporting production and improving asset reliability. Along with your technical trade skills, you’ll be comfortable using our maintenance and purchasing systems to manage your own work, ensuring maintenance activities are well planned, accurately recorded and fully supported.

About the role:

Reporting to the Asset & Maintenance Manager, you'll work alongside our maintenance and operations teams to:

  • Carry out planned, preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance across processing plant, equipment and site infrastructure.
  • Diagnose faults and complete timely repairs to minimise production downtime and maintain equipment reliability.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot specialist processing equipment, including filleting machines, vacuum systems and other critical production assets.
  • Accurately record maintenance activities in Workmate, including work completed, parts used, maintenance history, and raising and managing work orders and purchase orders as required.
  • Work collaboratively with production teams to plan maintenance activities, minimise disruption and support operational performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance practices and asset performance through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the coordination of contractors and maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping and compliance across all maintenance activities.
About you:

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in quality workmanship and thrives in a busy industrial environment. You’re confident working independently, can respond calmly to breakdowns and maintenance issues, and communicate effectively with production teams, contractors and colleagues.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • A recognised trade qualification or significant practical maintenance experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing, food processing, engineering, marine, aquaculture or another industrial maintenance environment.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding, repair and troubleshooting skills.
  • The ability to prioritise work, manage competing demands and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety, food safety and quality standards.
  • Good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Competent computer skills, including experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and the ability to manage maintenance records, work orders and purchase orders accurately.
  • A proactive attitude and a genuine interest in improving equipment reliability, maintenance performance and operational efficiency.
We offer:
  • A varied and interesting maintenance role with a broad range of equipment.
  • Opportunities to develop specialist technical skills.
  • Supportive leadership and a collaborative team environment.
  • Competitive remuneration.
