Job summary

SONOCO SINGAPORE PTE. LTD is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for our West Coast New Zealand manufacturing site. You will lead and develop the maintenance team, drive TPM practices, and ensure reliable equipment performance to support production goals.

The role requires strong leadership, preventive maintenance expertise, and the ability to coordinate with production while maintaining safety and quality standards. On-site role with focus on continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of engineering or maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment reliability.
  • Experience in manufacturing, packaging, FMCG, paper, plastics, or related industrial environment will be an advantage.
  • Experience in leading and developing technical teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively with both shop-floor employees and management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and maintenance-related systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise Maintenance and Electrical Technicians in daily maintenance activities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance programmes to ensure equipment reliability and availability.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and lead root cause analysis to prevent recurring breakdowns.
  • Monitor maintenance KPIs, equipment downtime, and maintenance activities, and recommend improvement actions.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules with Production to minimise operational disruptions.
  • Support equipment improvement projects, modifications, and new equipment installation activities as required.
  • Manage maintenance contractors and external service providers when required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and company standards.
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability, productivity, and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, spare parts inventory, and equipment documentation.
  • Ensure timely closure of maintenance work orders and compliance with preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), machine reliability, and maintenance best practices to support operational excellence.
  • Coach and develop technicians to strengthen technical competency and team performance.
  • Support audits, inspections, and engineering-related improvement programmes.
