Job summary

Goodman Fielder is seeking an experienced maintenance engineer for our Kiwi operations. The role covers safety, quality assurance, and both reactive and preventive maintenance across plant and facilities. You will manage maintenance planning, project work, and contractor coordination.

Shift is Sunday to Wednesday morning (5am–3pm) with night callouts once a month. We value problem solving, a growth mindset, and collaboration in delivering safe, reliable production for iconic brands like Meadow

Qualifications

• Trade certification in a relevant trade.
• Experience with fitting, turning and machining.
• Welding experience is beneficial.
• Understanding of electrical engineering incl. PLC/SCADA is beneficial.
• HSE knowledge important for safety & environment.
• Strong problem solving and initiative required.

Responsibilities

• Support action plans and drive improvements.
• Mitigate risk to people and environment; promote injury prevention.
• Ensure quality standards; uphold QA and food safety requirements.
• Improve plant reliability and maintenance efficiency across machinery.
• Schedule routine maintenance and attend to unplanned breakdowns.
• Develop and implement plant improvements with CI mindset.

You will be expected to be on night call outs one week per month.Key Responsibilities Include:Support the execute actions plans and/or innovate to improve furtherMitigate risk for our people, environment, and GF through the promotion of injury and incident prevention & managementMitigate quality risk for our consumers and brands through consistent delivery of quality standardsSupport and drive operational effectiveness including DDS, reviews, improvement projects, actions plan, CI, plant maintenance, inventory etcImprove the reliability of machinerySchedule and perform regular routine maintenance tasksAttend to unplanned maintenance tasks (Breakdowns)Perform general Engineering, repairs when requiredDevelop and Implement plant improvements to all machinery ensuring compliance with QA, Food Safety and HSE requirementsAbout YouIn order to be successful in this role, we are looking for an experienced maintenance engineer who has a background in both reactive and preventative industrial machinery maintenance.Experience and qualifications we would like to see include:Trade certification with applicable trade and skilled in fitting, turning and machiningWelding experience and reasonable knowledge in tig welding is beneficialAn understanding of electrical engineering including PLC and SCADA root-cause analysis is beneficialHealth, Safety and Environment knowledge, including machinery guardingThink outside the box problem solving abilityA strong growth mindset with an eagerness to learn new skillsBasic computer documentation skills in Word, Excel etc.What we can offerYou will be joining a driven team of professionals who genuinely enjoy working together, resulting in a highly collaborative and flexible work environment.
