Job summary

NZ Panels Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to own the night shift at our East Tamaki site in Auckland. You will keep plant and equipment running safely, reliably, and efficiently while the site sleeps, taking pride in a well‑maintained operation and hands‑on problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Front-line fault finding and preventative maintenance across the plant.
• Carry out equipment maintenance and record activities accurately.
• Develop new preventative maintenance procedures to improve reliability.
• Ensure timely repairs to minimise downtime.
• Contribute to ad-hoc engineering projects and site work.
• Liaise with contractors and internal stakeholders.

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to own the night shift – keeping our plant and equipment running safely, reliably, and efficiently while the rest of the site sleeps. What you'll be doing

• Front‑line fault finding and preventative maintenance across our manufacturing plant and equipment.
• Carrying out equipment maintenance and accurately recording maintenance activities.
• Developing new preventative maintenance procedures to keep improving plant reliability.
• Ensuring timely repairs of plant and equipment to minimise downtime.
• Contributing to ad‑hoc engineering projects across the site.
• Liaising confidently with contractors and internal stakeholders, including factory team members.

What you'll bring

Essential:

• A minimum of 10 years' mechanical engineering experience, with relevant trade qualifications.
• Confidence working autonomously and safely as the sole engineer on site overnight.
• Hands‑on experience with CMMS (computerised maintenance management systems).
• Solid skills in light fabrication, welding, and machining.
• Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Excellent communication skills and good computer literacy.

Highly regarded:

• Dual‑trade qualification (Mechanical and Electrical), or relevant electrical experience.
