Job summary

DEC International in New Zealand is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team. You will maintain facilities and equipment, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements using state-of-the-art machinery.

You should have hands-on mechanical/electrical aptitude, be comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, and work with production and technical teams to meet performance targets. A proactive, collaborative mindset is essential.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification or engineering qualification is beneficial.
  • Experience in maintenance or engineering in manufacturing.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with plastics manufacturing or injection moulding is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving and proactive maintenance approach.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine, preventative and corrective maintenance on production machinery to ensure safe operation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical and process-related issues to minimise production downtime.
  • Assist in developing and implementing maintenance schedules and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct regular inspections of machinery and equipment, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and restore operations efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage and equipment upgrades.
  • Work closely with production and technical teams to ensure equipment performance and production targets are achieved.

About the Role

As a MaintenanceEngineer you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation andmaintenance of our facilities and equipment.You will have the opportunity to work with state of the art machineryand systems, troubleshooting issues, conducting preventative maintenance andelectrical fault finding, and implementing improvements to enhance efficiencyand performance.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Carryout routine, preventative and corrective maintenance on production machineryand equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Troubleshootand resolve mechanical, electrical and process-related issues to minimiseproduction downtime.

Person Requirements
  • Experiencein a maintenance, engineering, manufacturing, production, plastics, automation,machinery operation, or similar hands-on technical environment.
  • Experienceworking with injection moulding, plastics processing equipment, or othermanufacturing machinery would be highly advantageous.
  • A tradequalification, engineering qualification, or relevant technical certificationis beneficial but not essential.
  • Practicalmechanical aptitude with an interest in troubleshooting and maintainingequipment.
  • Basicunderstanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems.
  • Strongproblem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolvingissues.
  • Abilityto work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturingenvironment.
  • Goodcommunication skills and the ability to work effectively with people across allareas of the business.
  • Willingnessto learn, develop technical skills, and take ownership of equipmentperformance.
  • Experiencein plastics manufacturing, injection moulding, or cGMP-regulated environmentswould be an advantage.
