Job summary

Sleepyhead in New Zealand is seeking a reliable Tape Edger to join our manufacturing team. You will help finish mattress borders and panels to our quality standards, working with sewing machinery and hand tools in a collaborative environment.

No extensive experience required; training will be provided. The role runs Monday–Friday 6:00 am–2:15 pm with overtime opportunities and onsite parking at our Auckland site.

Qualifications

• Experience in sewing, upholstery, manufacturing or tape edging is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate tape edging and sewing machinery safely and efficiently.
• Edge and finish mattress panels and borders to required specifications.
• Attach tape accurately and consistently to achieve a high-quality finish.
• Prepare materials and components for sewing.
• Inspect finished work to ensure it meets quality and production standards.
• Follow production instructions, work orders and SOPs.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area.
• Work collaboratively with team members to meet production requirements.

About The Role

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Tape Edger to join our manufacturing team.

As a Tape Edger, you’ll play an important role in the production process, ensuring mattress borders and panels are finished accurately to our quality standards. You’ll work as part of a supportive production team and receive training to develop your skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate tape edging and sewing machinery safely and efficiently
• Edge and finish mattress panels and borders to required specifications
• Attach tape accurately and consistently to achieve a high-quality finish
• Prepare materials and components for sewing
• Inspect finished work to ensure it meets quality and production standards
• Identify and report defects, faults or quality issues
• Follow production instructions, work orders and standard operating procedures
• Complete job rotation and work across other production tasks within your training and competency
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area
• Complete housekeeping and participate in 5S and continuous improvement activities
• Work collaboratively with team members to meet production requirements
• Follow all health, safety and PPE requirements

About You

You don’t need extensive experience, although sewing, upholstery, manufacturing or tape edging experience would be an advantage.
