Job summary

CGR Services in New Zealand is seeking a production operator to operate and monitor packaging machinery, ensuring quality and safety while meeting production targets.

You will work afternoon shifts 2:20pm–10:20pm, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with weekly pay and overtime opportunities. A collaborative team environment and opportunities for skill development are offered.

Qualifications

• Previous machine operating experience within a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Good numeracy, literacy and mechanical aptitude.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to monitor processes and troubleshoot minor issues.
• Reliable transport to get to and from work.
• Positive attitude with willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Ability to work well within a team environment.
• Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks.
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug test and have no criminal convictions.
• Valid NZ work rights.

Responsibilities

• Set up, monitor and operate production machinery and associated equipment.
• Ensure batch weights and machine settings meet job specifications.
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain output and quality.
• Complete quality checks and production documentation accurately.
• Minimise scrap, downtime and waste where possible.
• Identify and report machine faults, maintenance requirements or quality concerns.
• Handle raw materials and finished products safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and organised work area, including completion of cleaning schedules.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

About the Role

You'll operate and monitor production machinery, ensuring high-quality output while maintaining safety, efficiency and product standards. You'll be part of a supportive manufacturing team focused on continuous improvement and delivering products to customers.

Duties Include

• Set up, monitor and operate production machinery and associated equipment
• Ensure batch weights and machine settings meet job specifications
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain output and quality
• Complete quality checks and production documentation accurately
• Minimise scrap, downtime and waste where possible
• Identify and report machine faults, maintenance requirements or quality concerns
• Handle raw materials and finished products safely and efficiently
• Maintain a clean and organised work area, including completion of cleaning schedules
• Follow all health and safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Shifts & Pay

• Afternoon shift 2:20pm to 10:20pm
• Monday to Friday
• 40 hours per week
• $26.90 an hour plus an afternoon shift allowance of $24.01 per shift
• Overtime rates and other allowances available
• Overtime shifts and extra hours may occur
