Job summary

Laminex New Zealand, part of Fletcher Building, Hamilton plant in Pukete, is seeking a Machine Operator to join our safety‑driven production team. You'll contribute to Melteca board production by setting machine parameters, monitoring performance and making real‑time adjustments.

This role requires 2–3 years hands-on experience, ability to operate industrial machinery and forklifts, good attention to detail, physical fitness for lifting up to 25 kg, and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years hands-on experience as a Machine Operator in manufacturing/production.
• Ability to operate industrial machinery and forklifts safely and efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality in a safe work environment.
• Physically fit with ability to lift up to 25 kg and work at heights or in confined spaces.
• Quick learner with practical, hands-on approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Basic computer literacy to navigate digital control systems.
• Preferred Class 1 Full Drivers Licence and OSH Forklift Licence (advantageous).

About the Role:

Our Hamilton plant based in Pukete has been making Melteca board for over 40 years and you’ll find Melteca in your home, schools, hospitals, retirement villages, and commercial buildings. As a Machine Operator, you will play a vital role in our safety-driven production environment as you gain experience, you’ll take on responsibilities of setting machine parameters, monitoring system performance, making real-time adjustments via digital control panels and switches, operating forklifts, quality control and troubleshooting to ensure safe, smooth, and efficient production.

This role has rotating shifts: 4 days on and 4 days off – 2 days, 2 nights (42-hour week).

To succeed in this position, you should have:

• A minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience as a Machine Operator in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Proven ability to operate both industrial machinery and forklifts safely and efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail and a solid commitment to maintaining quality standards in a safe work environment.
• Physically fit, and occasional shared lifting of up to 25 kg, and comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces.
• Quick to learn new processes, with strong technical aptitude and the ability to apply knowledge in a practical, hands-on setting.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• Basic computer literacy, with the ability to navigate digital control systems.
• Preferred Class 1 Full Drivers Licence, and OSH Forklift Licence (advantageous).
