Job summary

Port Marlborough New Zealand – Blenheim, South Island is inviting applicants for three fixed-term roles as Lines Crew, General Hand and Log Recovery. Based in Picton, these positions offer a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per fortnight with potential extra hours during peak season.

Successful candidates will be local or within 30 minutes of Picton, physically fit, able to pass a medical and drug/alcohol screen, and available for rostered shifts including nights and weekends.

• Local – ideally based in Picton or within 30 minutes' drive of the Port.
• Work-ready with eligibility to work in NZ and a clean full NZ driver’s licence.
• Physically fit and able to pass a role-specific fitness check.
• Flexible and reliable for rostered shifts including nights and weekends.
• Full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Lines Handling – securing and releasing vessels at Picton port (24/7 roster).
• General Hand – support operations across Port, Marine, Workshop and Marina teams.
• Log Recovery – retrieve logs during vessel operations (24/7 coverage).

We have an exciting opportunity to experience the peak shipping season as Lines Crew/General Hand/Log Recovery.

These 3x Fixed Term roles (Oct 26 - Apr 27) are based in Picton, with guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per fortnight and potential for additional hours.

These hands-on, physically active roles include three key responsibilities:

• Lines Handling – Securing and releasing commercial vessels at the Port of Picton (24/7 rostered shifts)
• General Hand Duties – Supporting operations across our Port, Marine, Workshop, and Marina teams
• Log Recovery – Retrieving logs that may fall during vessel loading (24/7 coverage during log vessel operations)

We're looking for someone who is:

• Local – ideally based in Picton or within 30 minutes' drive of the Port
• Work-ready - eligibility to work in NZ with a clean full NZ drivers' licence
• Physically fit – able to pass a role-specific fitness check
• Flexible and reliable – available for rostered shifts, including nights and weekends
• team player with a great attitude – full training provided!
