Job summary

Qube Ports NZ is seeking Casual Stevedoring General Hands to support safe and efficient cargo handling at the port. The role is hands‑on, physically demanding, and requires strong teamwork and safety awareness.

You will be trained across a range of duties in the port operation, with a flexible casual schedule and the opportunity to contribute to a leading logistics provider.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and move cargo safely and efficiently.
• Operate hoppers, sweep, shovel, and clean vessel holds and wharf areas.
• Sling cargo, set up and pack down equipment, assist with wharf operations.
• Brace, lash, and secure cargo using chains and dunnage.
• Pack and unpack containers, handle products manually or with forklifts.
• Stow and secure palletised goods using pallet trucks and airbags.

Position: Casual Stevedoring General Hands

Are you safety-conscious, reliable, and ready to work in a fast-paced port environment? Qube is looking for Stevedores to support the safe and efficient handling of cargo. This role is hands-on and physically demanding, with a strong focus on teamwork, accuracy, and safety. You will be trained in a ray of different duties across the port operation.

Status: Casual, as and when required basis - flexibility to work around a 24/7 operation

Your job duties would be:

• Cargo Handling:Load, unload, and move cargo safely and efficiently.
• Bulk Cargo Handling:Operate hoppers, sweep, shovel, and clean vessel holds and wharf areas.
• Working Under the Hook:Sling cargo, set up and pack down equipment, and assist with general wharf operations.
• Rigging and Securing:Strap, lash, and secure cargo using chains, dunnage, and framing.
• Container Work:Pack and unpack containers, handle product manually or with forklifts, and record cargo movements.
• Palletised Cargo:Stow and secure palletised goods using pallet trucks and airbags.

You will also need to:

• Have an excellent can-do attitude and a desire to learn
• Must be physically fit
• Flexible to work within a 24/7 operation
• Work well within a team setting
• Be reliable and safety-conscious
• Hold a minimum Restricted Class 1 driver’s license
